Sunday at 6:30 a.m. I will run my first half marathon.
I am nervous and anxious about it on several different levels and for several different reasons.
I didn’t quit smoking.
I didn’t lose as much weight as I would have liked.
I didn’t get in as much training as i wanted; I’ve never run the half marathon distance and I have visions of myself crashing at 12 1/2 miles.
I have trained for it and did almost 9 miles of the route on my last long run. I did 12 miles on my last long run before that but it wasn’t on the race route.
I am as ready as I will ever be.
I have the feet of a warrior!
My main goal is to finish. I think that’s pretty accomplish-able.
My secondary goals would be to finish at 15 minutes per mile. Depending on the weather, the wind and the heat that may or may not be accomplish-able. I’ve decided not to stress about it too much as long as I keep my eye on my main goal.
That’s really it.
Afterwards we’re having hamburgers at Tuckers’s and that great Chocolate Cake at Cheevers. My BoyChild is counting on it!

Good luck! You can do it! Just finishing is amazing.
As for the other goals you didn’t/haven’t met: No worries. You’ll eventually meet them, right?
Hell I am impressed that you are attempting it!!! Well done. We will be out somewhere on the race route to cheer everyone on. Good Luck!!!
